7 Dec 2018 - Knowledge Transfer and Exchange Workshop

Event Date:

What: Research Impact: Maximising Knowledge Transfer and Exchange A workshop for palliative care practitioners and researchers

Where: The Education Department of Milford Care Centre, Castletroy, Limerick, Ireland

When: Friday 7 December 2018, 9.30am - 4.00pm

Despite increasing levels of palliative care research, achieving impact by influencing practice and policy remains challenging. A well thought out dissemination plan is critical for effective knowledge transfer and exchange not only with other researchers but also within practice and policy contexts. This CPD accredited workshop will help you learn how to design and develop a dissemination plan from the outset of your palliative care research project using a peer reviewed Evidence-based Model for the Transfer and exchange of Research Knowledge (EMTReK).

Workshop details:
In this workshop the AIIHPC will take a close look at each component of the EMTReK model. They will provide real world examples of research projects that used the model to support the development of a dissemination plan and promote the successful transfer and exchange of research outcomes to identified stakeholders using a range of dissemination tools. You’ll learn how to apply the EMTReK model to a research project and how to evaluate dissemination plans to maintain and maximise effective knowledge transfer and exchange.
Learning Outcomes:
• Recognise modern day challenges around research knowledge transfer and exchange
• Identify research knowledge dissemination tools available (both traditional and non-traditional)
• Understand a Knowledge Transfer and Exchange (KTE) model for palliative care research (EMTReK) and the importance of each component
• Practiced application of the EMTReK model to a palliative care research project
• Appreciate the importance of periodic dissemination plan evaluation
