NIHR Global Health Research Professorships

Round 3 of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Professorships opened on Wednesday 18th September 2019 to applicants from across the UK (England and the Devolved Administrations).

The NIHR Global Health Research Professorships expands the NIHR Research Professorships remit to support applied research in the field of global health. These awards are funded through the UK aid budget (Official Development Assistance, ODA) so the research programme must be for the direct and primary benefit of patients and the public in low-and-middle-income countries.

The NIHR Research Professorships and the NIHR Global Health Research Professorships are the NIHR’s most senior level personal award, designed to develop the research leaders of the future and build research capacity. NIHR Global Health Research Professorships are fixed term 5-year appointments (a maximum of 60 months) offering funding of up to £2m including a leadership and development programme and three support posts. Up to two awards will be made under Round 3.

The NIHR Global Health Research Professorships scheme is open to all professions and all Higher Education Institutions (HEI), based in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, to nominate health researchers and methodologists with an outstanding research record in any relevant field of applied global health research and its effective translation for improved health.

The closing date for applications is 1pm on 20 November 2019.
