HSC R&D Division hosted a meeting in Belfast with researchers from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and representatives from the Wellcome Trust. CEO John-Arne Røttingen, who recently joined from his previous role as Ambassador for Global Health at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway; Paul Schreier, formerly Interim CEO at Wellcome and Cheryl Moore, Chief Research Programmes Officer, wanted to learn more about research policy and strengths in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and shared information about the Trust, their current strategy and available funding programmes. Wellcome Trust is keen to encourage researchers across all of the UK and Ireland to put forward more bids against their funding schemes.
