Supporting researchers with Personal and Public Involvement (PPI)
At HSC R&D Division, our dedicated PPI lead for health and social care research, Dr Alan McMichael is here to support you in involving the public in your research (Alan.McMichael@hscni.net).
- Even before your research is funded, you can apply to our PPI in Research Small Grant Scheme. This scheme is designed to provide support for people working in health and social research to access resources (e.g. funds, time, skills) to help them implement/develop PPI in their own projects or research programmes.
- We also provide training and support to researchers who want to learn more about PPI in research and have produced a PPI Resource Library for Researchers. The UK Standards for Public Involvement are a really useful starting point for helping you think through your plans for PPI.
- Support is also available from HSC R&D Division's PPI group. This group is called 'PIER' which stands for 'Public Involvement and Enhancing Research'. Click here for further information.
