Support to get involved in health and social care research
Getting involved in research can be a rewarding and worthwhile experience. You can help make sure that researchers:
- Prioritise topics important to patients and carers
- Ask the right research questions
- Report their findings in an understandable way
- Achieve outcomes which are more meaningful
- Improve care in the future
If you are interested in learning more, we recommend that you:
- Read the guidance developed by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR): 'Starting out guide - why and how to get involved in research' and 'Public Information Pack (PIP) - How to get involved in NHS, public health and social care research'.
- View this series of videos from Healthtalk.org to find out more about people's experiences of being involved in research.
- Sign up to our 'Building Research Partnerships' training.
- Consider joining our group of trained PPI partners who support HSC R&D Activities. The group is called 'PIER' (Public Involvement Enhancing Research) and you can find out more by clicking here.
- Browse our PPI resource library
