Margaret Grayson awarded MBE

HSC R&D Division would like to congratulate Margaret Grayson, a member of Public Involvement Enhancing Research (PIER) and Chair of the NI Cancer Research Consumer Forum on the award of MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, for her services to cancer research.

Margaret has been involved with the Public Health Agency as a PPI representative since 2010 and has delivered the Building Research Partnership courses to bring together researchers and service users, since 2012.

Margaret is a passionate and tireless advocate for patient and public involvement in research locally and a respected PPI contributor to several national and international groups including the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Consumer Involvement Steering Group, Cancer Research UK and the European Patients’ Academy (EUPATI).

This has been a fruitful year for Margaret as she was also presented with the Iris Colvin Lifetime Achievement Award for Health by the Women's Forum Northern Ireland at an awards ceremony at Belfast City Hall on 21 April 2018.
