Overview:

A policy symposium connecting researchers, practitioners and policymakers, setting out a range of evidence from research, advocacy and outreach on UK and Northern Ireland migrant health inequalities.

Aims:

This event, the second in a series of policy symposiums from the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland, is aimed at all those involved in public policy and research, services and practice delivered for, or used by, the migrant community in issues connected to health and social services.

Delivered in conjunction with ‘Stronger Together’, a formal network supported via Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Public Health Agency, this policy symposium includes presentations and discussions from the Equality Commission Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Executive Department of Health, Belfast City Council, Kings College London, Mental Health Reform Republic of Ireland, Ulster University and Queens’ University Belfast.

Stronger together represents Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) organisations and groups, BME individuals, community sector, volunteer sector and public service sector.

Format:

The symposium will be opened by Eileen Chan Hu from the Northern Ireland Equality Commission. Presentations and discussions will contain up to date research by local academics on Northern Ireland migrant mental health, disability benefits uptake and dental service utilisation presented alongside those on UK migrant health and from Stronger Together on their early intervention project on migrant mental health.
