Vacancy for Research and Development Manager, Band 8A, Southern Health and Social Care Trust

 

The post holder will be responsible to the Director of Research and Development for the effective management of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust Research Office and will provide specialist advice, knowledge and leadership for all research activities to ensure the promotion and enhancement of research activity to the benefit of patients, clients and service users, in line with legal and statutory requirements and best practice. The post holder will manage a team of specialist research staff and will be responsible for the provision and management of research governance within the Southern Health & Social Care Trust. S/he will work to determine the Trusts key research objectives including the development of a Trustwide research strategy as well as research capacity, management of research budgets and policy development. The post holder will be an advocate for Research & Development both internally and externally to the Trust establishing approved networks and partnerships.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The postholder will lead on the expansion of research opportunities within the Southern Trust through engagement and partnership working with key external stakeholders within the public, private and university sectors.

2. The postholder will work with these key stakeholders to increase the volume of innovative research and development projects and studies within the Southern Trust, and increase the number of specialties involved in research.

3. The post holder will contribute to and influence the direction of research activity within the organisation.

4. In light of the Regional HSCNI Research and Development Approvals Service, work with key stakeholders to review and modernize Trust policies, procedures, practices and documentation for all Research and Development practices within the Trust.

5. In light of the Regional HSCNI Research and Development Approvals Service, the post holder will be responsible for modernizing existing research management systems including the approvals processes, governance and management framework so that they can be integrated into the Trusts performance management and assurance framework.

6. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining research related information systems which include regular software updates, staff training and managing storage and retrieval of information or records. 7. Will lead on and develop a new Research & Development Strategy and Implementation Plan.

8. Be an advocate for Research & Development both internally and externally to the Trust, developing appropriate networks and partnerships.

9. Represent the Trust and contribute to national and regional working groups and initiatives and will adopt best practice in the provision of new guidance for the area of responsibility.

10.Work in partnerships with stakeholders in the implementation of Standard Operation Procedures, Control Assurance Standards and all relevant standards and legislation
