The British Science Association has announced a call for researchers to join our latest community engagement scheme, the Community Buddy programme.
For the last six years, the BSA has been building a community engagement programme through a series of grants, workshops and leadership schemes. From speaking to our community organisers, we notice that they rarely have access to researchers. As such, we are looking for researchers that live in specific areas to connect with our existing group of Community Leaders, community organisers who have an established record of delivering high-quality, impactful science engagement with the BSA.
We are looking for a researcher to match with our Community Leader based in Clonmore, County Armagh.
To be a Community Buddy, we ask that active researchers be able to volunteer their time to attend one online training session in late summer/early September and then engage in a minimum of six meetings with their buddy over a six-to-eight-month period, ultimately resulting in a collaborative project or idea developed by the pair. We will introduce them to their buddy and provide a framework for the scheme in the training session.
The full details of the Community Buddy scheme can be found in our recent Call for Community Buddies news piece, including the link to an Expression of Interest Form which is open until Monday 31 May 2021.
