Clinical Research Facility - New Director

Professor Judy Bradley joined Queen's University Belfast in July 2015 to take up the role of Director of the NI Clinical Research Facility (NICRF).

She is looking forward to the challenge of ensuring that the success of the NICRF is optimised and it becomes a central part of the research infrastructure in Northern Ireland providing a world class facility to support the delivery of high quality research focused on the needs of society.

Judy has a background in Physiotherapy having worked previously in Ulster University and Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.  Her major research interest is respiratory disease and she has developed an international research profile in this area particularly in the evaluation of treatment therapies as well as outcome measures.

Judy has also been a clinical lead of the NI Clinical Research Network (NICRN) Respiratory Health Interest Group since its inception in 2008 and has been highly successful in developing a high performing multi-disciplinary group of highly trained researchers delivering on a wide portfolio of pharma-sponsored and investigator-led research studies regionally and in providing patients with respiratory diseases in Northern Ireland access to novel therapies in the context of clinical trials.

One of Judy's visions for the NICRF will be implementing a range of strategies to optimise its capacity for growth. These include: Improved engagement with Research Institutes/Investigators across Universities and Trusts as well as Industry; Strategic Support to areas that will bring a portfolio of studies to the CRF; Connecting NICRF with other parts NI research infrastructure; and supporting PhD fellows and postdoc fellows (contributing to research capability growth).
