"Recovery, Resilience and Growth for Health and Social Care Research in Northern Ireland”
Prof Mike Clarke, Queen’s University Belfast
Director of the Northern Ireland Methodology Hub and
Northern Ireland Clinical Trials Unit
We’ve all heard about the need for health and social care (HSC) to “follow the science”, “be driven by the data” and “be evidence based”, especially in recent years. However, this requires improvements in the science that generates the data to provide the evidence. Research needs to be efficient and effective, and part of routine practice, not a luxury or add-on. This requires actions to allow the most important research to be delivered. As part of UK-wide activities to help research recover, become resilient and grow; researchers, practitioners, the public and parts of Northern Ireland’s HSC research ecosystem have prepared a regional implementation plan. This webinar will discuss the key elements and how to achieve them.
Professor Mike Clarke is based in Queen’s University Belfast. He is Director of the Northern Ireland Methodology Hub and Northern Ireland Clinical Trials Unit. He has spent nearly 35 years working in rigorous evaluations of health and social care including many randomised trials and systematic reviews. He chaired the Taskforce that produced the Implementation Plan for Research Recovery, Resilience and Growth in Northern Ireland.
