In conversation with… Paul Workman 5th July 2022 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm

Event Date:
2022-07-05

In this session, we will meet Professor Paul Workman FRS who was, until last year, Chief Executive and President of The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). In this role he guided basic, translational and clinical research, including leading the multidisciplinary CRUK Convergence Science Centre at ICR and Imperial College. Paul is now focusing on his personal research and providing open science resources for biomedical researchers. He is an expert in cancer drugs and has been instrumental in discovering many new clinical stage molecularly targeted agents. Paul will share his career path and achievements whilst providing useful insight and advice for early career researchers. His experience spans academia, biotech start-ups and the pharmaceutical industry and he will discuss all of these career routes. The session will be chaired by Dr Yusra Siddiqui from University of Derby who is also a member of the NCRI Early Career Researcher Forum Advisory Committee. Yusra will guide the conversation and ask everything early career investigators might want to know about Paul’s extensive experience in the cancer research field as a scientist, as well as the leader of one of the major institutes in the UK. Delegates will be able to participate by asking questions throughout the live session.

Read Paul’s biography.
