Launch of the findings from the HSC R&D Dementia Care Research Programme

The Health and Social Care R&D Division, Public Health Agency, Northern Ireland (HSC R&D) commissioned a programme of work to support the research recommendations of the NI Dementia Strategy - ‘Improving Dementia Services in Northern Ireland. A Regional Strategy’.

This programme was commissioned in collaboration with The Atlantic Philanthropies. Seven projects were funded following a 2 stage call process in 2013 and 2014. Topics were informed by a local priority setting exercise.

A formal launch of the findings from these projects will be held on Friday 29th March, Linen Suite, Mossley Mill, from 9.30am and finishing with lunch at 1.30 pm.

The seven projects were:

  • Risk Communication in Dementia Care
  • Pain Assessment and Management for Patients with Advanced Dementia Care Nearing the End of Life
  • Promoting Informed Decision Making and Effective Communication through Advance Care Planning for People with Dementia and their Family Carers
  • Evaluation of a Healthcare Passport to Improve Quality of Care and Communication for People with Dementia (EQulP)
  • A Feasibility Study of Facilitated Reminiscence for People Living with Dementia
  • The Development of a Comprehensive Medicines Management Approach For Persons With Dementia In Primary Care
  • Technology Enriched Supported Housing – a Study into the Lived Experience of Older People with Dementia and their Carers
