LOCATION: To be confirmed after appointment in one of the four PHA/HSCB Offices (Belfast, Armagh, Ballymena or Derry/Londonderry)
JOB SUMMARY
The post-holder will be responsible for overall leadership and delivery of research governance services for the HSC in Northern Ireland. Research is a global endeavour, with significant regulatory requirements, which demands collaboration at a local, national and international level. As such, this role will not only focus on ensuring seamless provision of research governance support services in Northern Ireland, but will link with counterparts across the UK, Ireland and internationally.
The Head of HSC R&D Governance will;
Oversee the development and implementation of a HSC R&D Governance service delivery plan, within the overall context of the HSC R&D Strategy Research for Better Health & Social Care, including liaison with associated functions across regional HSC organisations, Trusts, Universities and commercial organisations to co-develop efficient governance systems Provide strategic direction and leadership to all staff across the HSC research governance family Lead and direct change management projects within the rapidly-evolving UK research environment Oversee the development and monitoring of metrics and KPIs for the delivery of HSC research governance in line with national standards, and reporting of progress against these to the Assistant Director of R&D, Director of R&D and the R&D Directors’ Forum Ensure effective performance of governance systems through regular internal and external review, for example through customer satisfaction surveys, and ongoing service improvement activities Be responsible for the effective management and appropriate use of the HSC R&D Governance budget, disbursed by the Public Health Agency (PHA), which includes staff and non-staff costs Ensure that, where appropriate, effective personal and public involvement (PPI) is embedded within HSC governance services and processes Act as a key contact for research governance functions within HSCNI, and support the Assistant Director of R&D to deliver on the regional and 4 Nations aspects of their role.
