The UK Government has published its full response to the Lord O’Shaughnessy (LOS) Review, in commercial clinical trials in the UK. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) led a press release on the response.

Queen’s University Belfast is to lead the Northern Ireland component of a new hub for behavioural research, directly supported by £10M investment, as part of a total £17M boost for behavioural science by the UK government.

 

The EU Medical Device Regulation (Regulation 2017/745) (EU MDR) and In Vitro Diagnostics Regulation (Regulation 2017/746) (EU IVDR) require the sponsors of clinical investigations and certain performance studies to be established in the EU (or Northern Ireland) or have a legal representative established in the EU (or Northern Ireland).

The survey is for stakeholders including researchers, healthcare professionals, policy-makers, students, academics, information specialists, patients and the public, and other generators and users of evidence syntheses. 

Please note our workshops are primarily for those resident on the island of Ireland.

From autumn 2023, the number of funding opportunities created by the HSC R&D Division investment in National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funding programmes is increasing. The Evidence Synthesis programme, Invention for Innovation (i4i), Research for Social Care (RfSC), Programme Grants for Applied Research programme (PGfAR) and Programme Development Grants have been added to the suite of programmes accessible to NI Chief Investigators

Moonshots for the UK: transforming tomorrow together

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UK Research and Investment (UKRI) are seeking input to help shape a potential new Moonshots Programme. If the UK does not associate to Horizon Europe this would become a core part of the Pioneer Innovation package, but we are seeking your exciting new Moonshot ideas in either scenario.

The expression of interest for submitting initial ideas for moonshots is now live and will run until 5pm on Monday 10th July.
